Floor coatings come in many different options. Your floor coating system will depend on the condition of the floor and what the floor is going to be used for. Quality Epoxy can help you in determine those factors. Once this has been done, the process runs smoothly and you are on your way to that showroom look you have always dreamed about.
Day 1
We acid etch and pressure wash your floor at 302 degrees. Your concrete floor must be etched correctly in order to open up the pores so your epoxy coating will adhere properly.
This floor is in the process of being acid etched.
After the etching, it's important to do a thorough washing with a commercial pressure rinse machine because the acid leaves a film on the concrete. If you do not use a commercial pressure washer, the acid film will dry and become chalky. |
Note: If we need to do a dry prep, your floor will be diamond ground and or shot blasted depending on the project.

Removed concrete slime after acid etching with commercial pressure washer. Open pores allow lifetime adhesion. Concrete slime left after acid washing without commercial pressure washing. This is what causes 99% of all peel up issues.

Day 1
Control joints get caulked with silicon to hide the cracks that are currently showing. Floor is now ready for the 2-part resin-based epoxy to be applied. Once applied, you will see the epoxy being absorbed into the open pores of your concrete.
Day 2
Major cracks get patched. Depending on what floor coating system you have chosen, the floor gets coated with either a 2-part resin base 100% solid epoxy or a colored pigmented aliphatic 2-part polyurethane with UVR. If you are going with chips, this is when they would be added to your floor.
Day 3 (clear coat on a granite chip floor)
Before we clear coat your floor, we run a floor scraper over the entire floor which allows any chips standing up to be knock down. Loose chips will then be blown out and a clear coat of 2-part aliphatic polyurethane with UVR gets applied.

Because I chip into pigment polyurethane vs. another layer of epoxy, my floors will be shiner, look nicer because of the 1/2" chips and always out perform any competitors floor. (UVR stands for ultra violet rays)
