Procedures

Step 1

Prep & prime
We acid etch and pressure wash your floor throughly. If your floor needs the hot water for several different reasons (gum, oil, grease ect) our washer goes up to 302 degrees. Your concrete floor must be etched correctly in order to open up the pores so your epoxy coating will adhere properly.

This floor is in the process of being acid etched.

After the etching, it's important to do a thorough washing with a commercial pressure rinse machine because the acid leaves a film on the concrete. If you do not use a commercial pressure washer, the acid film will dry and become chalky.

Note: If we need to do a dry prep, your floor will be diamond ground and or shot blasted depending on the project.

Removed concrete slime after acid etching with commercial pressure washer. Open pores allow lifetime adhesion.
Concrete slime/residue left after acid washing without commercial pressure washing. This is what causes 99% of all peel up issues.

Control joints get caulked with silicon to hide the cracks that are currently showing. Floor is now ready for the 2-part resin-based epoxy to be applied. Once applied, you will see the epoxy being absorbed into the open pores of your concrete.

Step 2

Epoxy prime coat
Your floor gets coated with a two part resin based epoxy.

Step 3

Pigmented poly / granite chips
This is when major cracks are patched. And the pigmented polyurethane gets applied. If this is a solid color system the floor is finished. If you have chosen a granite chip system this is when the chips would be applied.

Step 4

Top coat
2-part aliphatic polyurea 92% solid with UVR is applied.

Finished floor

The number of days required to complete these steps will depend on the weather conditions, heat index, and several other factors.

What makes Quality Epoxy different from my competitors?

  • I the owner work on every job

  • Lifetime warranty on peeling for residential work

  • ROC compliance on all commercial jobs

  • We only use the highest quality commercial grade 2-part resin base epoxy with a 2-part aliphatic polyurethane with UVR

  • We proudly use only the best commercial grade product manufactured by Arizona Polymer Flooring

  • High-gloss finish

  • Granite chip floors get 5/8" chips that get applied on top of the pigmented polyurethane, unlike my competitors who chip into epoxy. This way you have (2) layers of polyurethane and UVR protection. Before the poly clear top coat gets applied, you floor gets scraped. Every granite chip floor top coat is applied with polyurea. This is the highest solid count currently available on the market at 92% solid. This finish top coat will provide that glass finish look you have always wanted. I guarantee you 100% that your floor will never fade, chalk, oxide or turn yellow and that it will be the best floor you have never seen. (UVR stands for ultraviolet resistant)
